In September of 2019, American Water was awarded a 50-year contract to privatize the water and wastewater utilities of U.S. Army Garrison West Point, New York. Our responsibilities include system capital investment, regulatory and environmental compliance, planning, asset recapitalization, and long term operations and maintenance.
We will provide the water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution serving the installation’s 4,000 cadets, 580 academic staff, and other visitors. The U.S. Army Garrison West Point water system includes both the Stony Lonesome and Lusk Water Treatment Plants and the Lusk Reservoir, nearly 400,000 linear feet of water pipe, over 200 hydrants, 1,000 valves, and 12 tanks. The wastewater treatment and collection system and includes approximately 200,000 linear feet of pipe, 1000 manholes, and 6 lift stations, and wastewater treatment plants at Camp Buckner and Target Hill.
